Pastor Jerome Griffin

Rev. Jerome Griffin is the Senior Pastor of Evening Star. He is the husband of Mona; father of 3 sons and grandfather to several grand and great grandchildren. He was ordained as a Reverend in November 1985 by the late Pastor Willie J. Cooper at First M. B. Church of Seffner. He received the call from the late Deacon Joe Fountain in July 1987 to Pastor Evening Star after the passing of Rev. Charlie Sheppard. He became the Pastor in September 1987 and still serves faithfully. He has 8 Sons and 1 Daughter in the Ministry. He has ordained 4 Deacons. God has given him the following visions for this church:

  • Be an effective part of this community and bring about a unified church with the sole purpose of building up the Kingdom of God
  • Be blessed with a facility that we can offer wholesome and substantial activities that will create an interest for the youth in the community
  • Embrace the computer age, establish a telephonic prayer line, organize a drug addiction counseling program, and establish a singles ministry

Rev. Richard McCalpine

Rev. McCalpine is a native of Chicago IL. He relocated to the Tampa area in 1978. He is the husband of Yomika, the proud father of 4 and grandfather of 2. He graduated from H.B Plant H.S. He is a graduate of The University of Miami. He is a veteran of the USMC. He was called into ministry in 2012. He was ordained as a Reverend in 2016. He is currently attending Faith Theological Seminary.

Rev. Steve Griffin

Rev. Griffin is the husband of Laticia and the father of 3 children (Delton, Roneshia and Malik). He is the grandfather of 5 grandchildren. He was born in Fort Campbell, KY. He is the oldest son of Pastor Jerome and First Lady Mona Griffin. He attend Tennessee State University. He was ordained as a Reverend in 2006.

Rev. Zackary Roberts

Rev. Roberts serves faithfully under the guidance of Pastor Griffin here at Evening Star. He is a devoted family man, a wonderful friend and a true servant of God. He has a generous and loving spirit and he uses it daily to share God's word and encourage others to seek God's salvation.

Min. Duaney Griffin

Min. Griffin is the youngest child of 3 boys. He graduated from Brandon High school in 1990 where he excelled in baseball and football. He is married to Audrey Griffin and is the father of 3 (Courtney, Audriana, and DJ). He uses the gifts that the Lord blessed him with to teach and coach young people. He accepted his calling to preach in 2011 under the leadership of Pastor Jerome Griffin. He is now the Youth Choir director at Evening Star.

Evan. Julie Jackson

Evangelist Jackson is a member of Evening Star Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Jerome Griffin.  Her services included, Sunday school teacher, Sunday school secretary, Vice President of Choir #2 and the spiritual leader of “Harvest Time” a ladies fellowship. In 2004, the Lord ordained and called Julie Jackson as an Evangelist.  She proclaimed her calling openly to Pastor Jerome Griffin and before the church family of Evening Star M.B Church. She is truly on a mission to inspire and motivate the world to join the glorious Body of Christ while encouraging, educating, and equipping, those who presently share her passion to advance the Kingdom of God. She remains focused on her core mission, which is to "nurture, enlighten, and embrace people, particularly women" completing the assignment that God has placed on her life by doing the full work of an evangelist and making full proof of her ministry.  Her objective is to touch the world with the transforming power of God’s love, humbly yielding to the impenetrable mandate to touch and impact the lost and to reach the heart of God’s children.

Deacon Amos Castillo

Deacon Castillo realized at an early age that he was a blessed child but did not live a righteous life, until July 1991. He awakened with a heart of shame and repentance on his mind. He knew it was time to make a change. He went to church at Faith Temple M.B.C. the next day and accepted our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He is now a Deacon at Evening Star.

Deacon James Thompson

Deacon Thompson is the husband of Stephanie; father of Staci and Brittany; and grandfather of Payton. He was born to Ms. Jacquelyn E. Jones in Roanoke Va., and raised by his grandparent, Pastor Joseph and Essie Mae Thompson. He graduated from Mount View H.S. in Welch, WVA.  Upon graduation he served in the U.S. Air Force. He also spent time in Arlington, TX and Richmond, VA. After relocating to Tampa, FL in 1998, he joined Evening Star. He was elected Church Treasurer in 2002 and ordained a Deacon in 2004 and still faithfully serves in these offices.
